Obituary

Steven Keith Headrick, born November 1, 1955, to Keith and Doris Headrick in Benkelman, Nebraska and  passed away on November 20, 2025. Steve just celebrated his 70th birthday.  Steve was surrounded by his family at the time of his passing.

Steve grew up in Northglenn, Colorado, and graduated from Northglenn High School. While still in high school, he joined the National Guard, beginning a commitment to service. After graduation, he enlisted in the United States Army. During his military service, Steve was stationed in Korea, where he served proudly as a Military Police officer and dog handler.

After leaving the Army, Steve met the love of his life, Isabelle. They were married on February 19, 1981, and together they built a beautiful life and raised four children: Andrea, Tom, Damion, DeseRay. Steve was a loving and devoted husband and father. He took great pride in his family.

Steve moved to Bird City twenty years ago. He recently retired after a decade of dedicated work in agriculture—a field he took great pride in. In his free time, Steve loved being with his family. He enjoyed playing pool, golfing, grilling, and baking—hobbies that brought him joy and created lasting memories for those around him.

Steve is preceded in death by his mother, Doris Lea Headrick, and his father, Keith Headrick. Family members from both sides of his family.

He is survived by his beloved wife, Isabelle; his children, Andrea Arellano (husband Rick), Tom Gabaldon (wife Lori), Damion Gabaldon(girlfriend Di Di Soto) and DeseRay Stich (husband Russ); his grandchildren Megan, Andrew, Jordan, Thomas, Tara, Christian, Isabelle, Kayla, and Ava; and his great-grandchildren Ricky, Evy, Elana, Elianna, Jozah and Gabriela. His brother Brent Headrick (wife Barb, children Jenny and Julie) his sister Cherlyn Sepsey (husband Ron). He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, and friends who will carry his memory forward.

Steve was an amazing, loving and caring man who will be missed by so many. We are grateful for the time we had with him and will cherish all the memories we created with him.

There will be a memorial service for Steve held on December 6th, 2025 at the Lutheran Church at 12:30 p.m. in Bird City, KS. Followed by a grave side service in Saint Francis, KS.

The family would like to say thank you for all the love and support that has been given during the difficult time.
