Stanley Dean
Keller
Mar 2, 1948 — Jun 12, 2023
St. Francis
Stanley Dean Keller died Monday June 12, 2023 in hospice in Fort Collins, Colorado. Stanley was born March 2, 1948 in St. Francis, Kansas to Albert and Vinta Keller. He joined brothers John and Don and sisters Dorothy and Phyllis. He graduated from St. Francis Community High School in 1966 before joining the Army Reserves. He was honorably discharged in 1973. He worked various jobs in the Northwest Kansas/Eastern Colorado area before returning in 1975 to work the family farm with his father and brother.
In 1969, he married Vera Ogden. They had two children Shannon and Raquel. Stanley built two of the homes family members have lived in.
In 1997, the families and the family farm had grown to necessitate a split in the farm. Stanley continued Albert Keller Farms joined by his son-in-law Shannon Grover. Stanley retired from active farming in 2013. His grandson Ryan joined the farm in 2020.
In retirement, Stanley took up hobbies to keep him out of trouble. He enjoyed woodworking, making lovely pieces for his family and also quilting, a hobby he shared with Vera. They traveled to quilt shops and planned quilts and fabric together. He made several quilts for his children and grandchildren and some to be auctioned for charity. He continued in retirement to trap shoot and ride motorcycles. Riding the Keys Highway on motorcycles was a dream of his. He and Vera took a trip with some cousins through Florida on bikes and saw some great sights. They also traveled to Great Bend National Park in Texas. In January of 2023, they took a cruise with cousins through the Panama Canal, making great memories before his health became difficult.
Stanley was also a lifelong Lutheran and regular worshipper of his home church, Peace Lutheran Church of St. Francis.
Stanley is survived by wife Vera of the home; son Shannon and Shelly Keller of Topeka, KS; daughter Raquel and Shannon Grover of St. Francis, KS; four grandchildren: Randee Grover, Ryan Grover, Jessamyn Keller, and Josi Keller; two brothers: John and Karen Keller of St. Francis, KS, and Don Keller of Akron, CO; two sisters: Dorothy Lueschen of Norton, KS, and Phyllis Wheeler of Tulsa, OK; and many niece, nephews, and cousins. He loved his family immensely, especially the little ones. He was very willing to help and do anything for anyone.
