Rodney Gale Neitzel was born on October 22, 1954 to Alma and Dale Neitzel.  He left this world on December 16, 2025 at the age of 71.

He is survived by an older sister, Sherry Chaffin (husband Dale); twin brother, Roger Neitzel (wife Traci); younger brother Ronnie Neitzel (wife Roxie). Many nieces and nephews: Blake Chaffin, Meagan Chaffin, Ashley Chaffin, Cody Chaffin (wife Shannon), Benjamin Neitzel, Clarice Neitzel, Jeremiah Neitzel, Amanda Neitzel and Erin Tilton (husband Lance).  Great nieces and nephew: Maya Florie, Owen Florie, Quinn Tilton and Clara Chaffin.  Over the years Uncle Rodney was a lot of fun, taking these kids to many special events or just letting them spend the night when he lived in Denver.

Rodney has a very special family in the Porubsky's – Eileen, Brad, Carter, Delaney, Rusty, Jaydenn, Maybrie, Brooke, Luke, Faith, A.J. and Peter.  They mean the world to him and he loved them very much.

Rodney graduated in 1973 from St. Francis Community Schools; he went on to Ft. Hays State University.  He worked at many different places, from managing grocery stores to doing appraisal work in Denver and the Wichita area.  Upon returning back to St Francis he took care of Alma and Dale until their passing.  He lived and worked in both Bird City and McDonald, loving the small town feel and making lifelong friends.

Rodney was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran Church in St. Francis.  After his retirement he volunteered his time to many wonderful organizations.

Rodney was a founding member of the 4th of July celebration in Bird City and later he helped organize events in McDonald.  Recently, he was best known for his delicious soft-serve ice cream, as you can imagine, he was very popular.

Rodney's Memorial service will be Monday, December 22, 2025 at 11:00 CS,T,  The Federated Church in McDonald, Kansas.

Memorials can be made to MCD (McDonald Community Development) Store Project and sent to the Outdoor Bank in McDonald, Kansas.
