Obituary

Norma Jean Weems finished her journey on this earth at the age of 89 on Saturday May 13th after a short battle with recovery from a fall at home.


Norma was born of Joseph and Evelyn Connally in Collyer, Kansas and spent her childhood years there with her brother Rich and sisters Ruth and Mimi.

She went on to achieve her Bachelor's Degree in education and a Masters Degree in Special Education. She taught several generations of students at elementary schools in Collyer, Park, Grainfield and St. Francis, where she later retired from education.

Norma was married to Bryan Weems and 6 children were born to that union. After their divorce, Norma would then spend 30 years of laughter and love, enjoying travel adventures, antique tractors and family with her life partner Eldon Zimbelman. She enjoyed spending the winter fishing and at happy hour with Eldon and friends in Lake Havasu Arizona. She was also famous for her homemade pickles and zucchini bread as well as her generosity with both.

Norma was proceeded in death by her parents Joseph and Evelyn Connelly (Tomanek), by her children Joya Neville, Tim Weems, and Mike Weems. She is survived by her partner of the home Eldon Zimbelman and children Jerry Weems, Willie Weems, and Eva Ehrlich (Weems). She also is survived by grandchildren, Heather Baksys (Neville), Bryan Neville, William Neville, Kyler Neville, Chad Weems, Cole Weems, Amanda Pearman (Weems), Cody Oliver, Cory Weems, Meghan Pracht (Weems), Jenni Weems, John Weems, Stephanie Ehrlich, Katie King (Ehrlich) and 25 Great-Grandchildren.
