Michael W. Reed, 75, passed away peacefully on June 15, 2026, after a short battle with cancer. In his final days, he was lovingly cared for at home by his wife, Lacy; children Jaime, Trevor, and Dallas; and granddaughter Peyton, whose devotion, comfort, and presence brought him peace. He was surrounded by the love of his family.

Mike was born on March 12, 1951, in Aurora, Nebraska, to Warren and Lillie Evelyn (Thomas) Reed. He grew up with a strong work ethic and a deep love for country living, the outdoors, and the people he cared about.

At the age of 17, Mike answered the call to serve his country and joined the United States Army during the Vietnam era. While serving, he earned his GED and continued his military service in the Army Reserves following his honorable discharge. Upon returning stateside, he went to work alongside his father, Warren, and uncles, Jim and Bert, at Reed Brothers Trucking in Fairmont, Nebraska.

Throughout his life, Mike wore many hats. He worked as a crop insurance adjuster, truck driver, businessman, and farmhand. No matter the job, he was known for his dedication, honesty, and willingness to lend a helping hand. He loved horses, the open road, and the simple pleasures of rural life.

Mike was first married to Coleen McMahon. To this union were born three children: Chris Reed, Travis Reed, and Jaime Belden. The family lived in Colorado for many years before life led them in different directions.

After his divorce, Mike moved to St. Francis to be closer to family. One day, he walked into the local pool hall and met Lacy, the woman who would become his life partner and greatest companion. They were married in 1995, and Mike proudly adopted Lacy's son, Trevor. Daughter Dallas completed their family. In 1996, they purchased the Pla-Mor and renamed it Diamond R. Together they built a life filled with laughter, hard work, adventure, and unwavering devotion.

Mike will be remembered for his quick wit, stubborn determination, generous heart, and deep love for those closest to him. He was a proud veteran, a loyal friend, and a man who never met a stranger.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Warren and Lillie Evelyn Reed; his father-in-law, Manson Jones; and other beloved family members who welcomed him home.

He is survived by his loving wife of 31 years, Lacy Reed; children Jaime Belden, Trevor Reed, and Dallas (Jesse) Stewart; grandchildren Peyton Belden, Kade Belden, Callion Reed, Axel Reed, Everly Stewart, Hunter Stewart, and Rhyatt Reed; sons Chris Reed and Travis (Lokana) Reed and their children; extended family members; and many friends whose lives were enriched by knowing him.

Though he is no longer with us in body, the lessons he taught, the stories he shared, and the love he gave will remain in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.
