St. Francis

Obituary

Mary Louise Walz was born in Wray, CO on March 3, 1952, to Leonard V. and Dorla Mae Rose.  She was the second born out of five children.  You could recognize Mary just about anywhere by a full head of beautiful red hair.  She could put on a dress and act like a proper lady or pull on a pair of blue jeans and work in the mud until her hands were achy.

On July 31, 1972, she married Jackie Lee Walz.  One thing they were known to do together was coyote call.  Mary was Jackie's right-hand man.  She did everything with him, exception of being in his band.  But you would find her sitting by the campfire, listening to the old army guys play.

When there was a deer to flay, she wouldn't shy away.  She would be right beside him packing up the meat.  Until the news came of a little girl they were soon to meet. Mary gave birth to Tina Marie Walz on November 3, 1973.  Sadly, Jackie was taken from them, but not until he got to meet both his granddaughters Ash and Bree.  Mary went on and found love again.

What a surprise it was when she found out she would start over again. On April 8, 1996, Jacy Rose Hilt was brought into this world.  Mary knew she would have her hands full, for on top of the baby's head fiery red hair a twirled.

Many years later Mary was diagnosed with breast cancer.  She refused to back down and wouldn't let it catch her.  She was able to see and enjoy the birth of several grandsons.  But like many others, the cancer, she was unable to outrun.

Mary's final resting place will be the St. Francis Cemetery.

Her love and endless strength, her descendants, will continue to carry.

Mary is survived by her brother, Alan Rose; sisters Connie, Marie and Lynette.  Daughters, Tina and Jacy.  Granddaughters, Ashley and BreAna.  She has four grandsons and three great-grandsons along with many nieces and nephews.
