Marie Joyce Weeden Holzwarth was born in a sod house, Jan 24th 1930 to Vinnie and Lloyd Weeden and died on died February 4th 2026 at the age of 96.  Marie and her 5 siblings, attended the Sunny Slope School District and then she went on to graduate from St Francis High School.  She married Alvin Holzwarth in March of 1947 and together they had one son, Delroy Lee Holzwarth.  The three of them lived and farmed on the Holzwarth family homestead.  They were faithful members of the Evangel Church and then later the United Method Church, where Marie taught Sunday School for the young and old.

As a farmer's wife, she quickly learned the ins and outs of farming.  From sowing, canning, cooking, gathering eggs, hauling milk buckets, delivering cows, driving the wheat truck and to top it off, raising a vivacious and adventurous son. Outside of all the farming duties, she truly enjoyed and found an escape in writing.  She journaled every day about life's happenings including mending fence, killing snakes or harvesting in her garden. She started to expand beyond the daily journal and focused on short stories and poems.  In her later years she became a published author of the book called My Scribbles, a collection of her stories.

In conjunction with her writing, Marie was an engaged member of the United Methodist church, whether cooking, cleaning, or washing dishes she was always helping in some way.  Marie was also very active with the United Methodist Thrift store, and was had many stories to tell about the variety of items being dropped off.

She is proceeded in death by her parents, siblings, her husband Alvin, son Delroy and grandson Darin. She is survived by her daughter-in-law, Kathy, grandchildren Mylee (Jon), Kama (Phil), Shamryn, Josh (Marcie), plus multiple great grandchildren, and great-great grands.

Marie was a long-time pillar of the St. Francis community, in which holds many stories and memories of her life.  She will be missed by her family, friends and community.
