John H. Lampe was born on November 23, 1951, in St. Francis, Kansas, to Harvey and Alice (Landenburger) Lampe. He began his education at Lawn Ridge Country School in School District 112 and continued through the 8th grade. He then attended St. Francis Community High School, graduating with the Class of 1969.
Following high school, John attended Colby Community College for a time before returning to his true calling—farming. It was his passion and life's work. He farmed side-by-side with his father Harvey for many years, and later with his son Logan. He remained devoted to the land and the family tradition of farming until his passing.
John had a lifelong love for cars and racing. He enjoyed spending time around the track and working with cars, a hobby he continued to enjoy throughout his later years.
On December 6, 1980, John married the love of his life, Carol (Carmichael). Through their union, a new family was formed with children Kevin and Lori, and later in 1990, they welcomed their son Logan. John and Carol shared 44 wonderful years of marriage, filled with love, partnership, and cherished memories.
John was a true family man who deeply loved his wife, three children, six grandchildren, and thirteen great-grandchildren. To his family, he was the biggest teddy bear—a gentle soul with a heart full of love. He never met a stranger and loved meeting new people and visiting with others. His warm presence and genuine kindness touched many lives.
John was a hardworking man, a loving husband, father, and grandfather, and a valued member of his community. He will be remembered for his big heart, his passion for farming, and the love he so freely gave to all who knew him.

Proceeded in death by his parents, sister Sandy Dobkins, and grandparents Henry & Lyndia Lampe, John & Lydia Landenberger.

Survived by his wife Carol, sons Logan 9Kaitlin) Lampe, Kevin (Paige) Myers, daughter Lori (Lynn) Stover. Grandchildren; trinity Lampe, Cassidy Myers,Tucker (Leann) Stover, London (Liz) Stover, Ethan (Aubry) Stover. Greatgrandchildren: Hazel, Cotton, Kip, Ezra, Tristan, Grace, Lily, Bexley, Jagger, Jett,Elliot, Kendrick & Wrynlee Stover. Many nieces and nephews. Brother-in-laws Darol Carmichael, Bob Dobkins (son Curtis). Sister-in-laws Sheri & Neala Carmichael.

He will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered always.

A Memorial Service will be held on Tuesday April 8th 10:30am at Peace Lutheran Church. Knodel Funeral Home for the arrangements, Rev. Luke C. Emerson officiating. Gifts or donations can be directed to Peace Lutheran Church and or Farm Rescue, Cheyenne County Hospital.
