On Saturday morning, January 28, 2023, Jessie LaNell O'Dell, passed away peacefully at the age of 57. LaNell was born on April 26, 1965, to Wilda June (Gilstrap O'Dell and Eldon Dale O'Dell.

She was the youngest of 3 girls, LaNell found her passion for cooking early and would lean on this passion for her lifelong career in the kitchen. She graduated Wray High School in 1983. Whether LaNell was living in Denver or Western Kansas, she was happiest when sharing her culinary skills with patrons, friends, or family.

LaNell also loved to travel. She most recently visited the NFL Hall of Fame in Canton, OH and even made it all the way to Costa Rica. LaNell also loved football. All she wanted to see this year, was her beloved Kansas City Chiefs make it to and win Super Bowl LVII.

Preceding her in death were her parents Wilma June and Sam O'Dell; brother-in-law Stephen Douthit. LaNell's family asks that in lieu of flowers or food, donations be made to the "15 and the Mahomies Foundation" in LaNell's name. Cremation was chosen. LaNell is survived by her sisters Melva Douthit of St. Francis, KS and Chris Adamson of Atwood, KS; Nieces Jinna Berry of Denver, CO, Ana Douthit EnField (Tyler) of St. Francis, KS, Erica Gattshall (Matthew) of Goodland, KS; Margo Douthit of St. Francis, Courtney Nelson (Matthew) of Trenton, NE; Nephew Thomas Douthit of St. Francis, KS; great-nieces and great-nephews; and many lifelong friends.
