Janice Eavonne (Hubbard) Antholz was born at the homestead northwest of McDonald on October 2, 1937 and passed away May 5, 2025 at Hope Springs in Sharon Springs, Kansas.  She was 87 years old.

Janice was born to Charlie (Chick) and Katherine (Katie) Hubbard.  She was the fifth of six children.  Her siblings include Rita Jean, Vaulene, Deroy, Harlen (Hod) and Rodney.

Janice enjoyed growing up on the farm northwest of McDonald.  She attended Grand Prairie Country School for two years, walking to and from school with her siblings and joining neighbor kids along the way.  In the winter, her dad took them in the hayrack, pulled by the tractor.  When she was entering the third grade her older brothers started attending high school in town so she was able to get a ride with them and could go to the McDonald schools.  She was a cheerleader and the FFA Sweetheart in high school.  After she graduated from McDonald high school in 1955, she attended Fort Hays State College for one semester and returned home to work at the Peoples State Bank.

On November 11, 1956, she married Gilbert (Andy) Antholz, the boy she met in the third grade that liked the girl with the long black curls.  God blessed their marriage with three children:  Hal, Craig and Tina.

In the early years of marriage, Janice enjoyed being a stay at home mom and helping Gilbert on the farm.  As the kids got older she took a job at the McDonald Grocery for a few years and then drove to Benkelman to roll dough at the Daylight Donut shop working with her sister Vaulene.  She then returned to work at the Peoples State Bank until she retired in 2007.

She enjoyed spending time with her family and friends.  She loved making homemade cinnamon rolls for the neighbors and she and Gilbert made many gallons of homemade ice cream for birthday parties.  She loved to quilt and belonged to the Stitch and Chat Club for many years.  Most recently she loved attending the monthly dinner for senior citizens in her beloved McDonald community.

Janice's relationship with Jesus was most important to her.  At the age of 12, she was sweeping one morning and listening to the "Danny Orlis Story" on the radio.  In the course of the program they presented the gospel message and she put down her broom, knelt by her bed, and asked Jesus into her heart.  She knew right from wrong but she didn't always choose right.  She knew that even being a sinner, she was saved by God's amazing grace.

Janice was preceded in death by her parents, Charlie and Katie Hubbard; her husband of 61 years, Gilbert; her son, Craig; sister, Rita Jean Skubal; brothers, Deroy and Harlen; brothers-in-law Jess Skubal, Ed Watt, Marvin Smull, Burette Griffith; sisters-in-law, Phyllis Hubbard and Joan Hubbard.  She is survived by her children Hal (wife Becky), Tina Smith (husband Brett); Jeri (daughter-in-law); her grandchildren, Clint (wife Jenny), Cort (wife Meghann), Cristi (husband Martin), C.J., Tiffany (husband Ryan), Mindy (husband Quinton), Heath (fiancee Diana), Cody (wife Stephanie), Brock, Tanner (wife Jamie); her great grandchildren Jack, Charlie, Henry, Jonathan, Parker, Katie, Hallee, Lane, Luke, Logan, Micah, Malachi, Rylee, Ryder, Wyatt, Hunter, Evie, Gracie, Zoie, Noah, Taytum and Kamden; her sister Vaulene Watt, brother Rodney (wife Donna), brother-in-law Robert Antholz (wife Priscilla), sister-in-law Janet Griffith and many nephews, nieces, cousins and wonderful friends.
