Jack Lampe, 89, of St. Francis, KS passed away Monday, January 30, 2023 at the Life Care Center of Stonegate in Parker, CO. Jack's parents were Herb and LaNora (Zimbelman) Lampe.
Jack attended school in St. Francis, KS and grew up attending the First Christian Church and later the United Methodist Church. He served in the Marine Corp and was station in Korea during the Korean War and later in California. After returning, Jack operated a gas station in St. Francis until owning Lampe Hardware with partners and friends until his retirement.
Jack married his high school sweetheart Marjorie Carmichael on October 26, 1952. They were married 62 years before Marge's death in 2014. Jack is survived by his brother Stan Lampe (Nancy), Fort Morgan, CO, his daughter Tracy Freedman (Howard), Lawrence, KS, and his son Rod Lampe (Carla), St. Francis, KS. Jack and Marge's grandchildren are Kris Kite, Jessie Kite, Tyler Lampe (Megan), Allyse Ross (Derek), Brett Lampe (Mackenzie)- great-grandchildren, Emma, Madison, Carson, Collin, Hadley, Sloan, Jaxson, and Quinn, all were very special to him. Jack enjoyed family most and enjoyed traveling to visit his brother and Marge's sisters and their families.
His grandchildren and great-grandchildren were a joy to him, along with family get-togethers, KU basketball, and traveling St. Francis with Quincy and Jake. Jack was an avid fisherman and enjoyed years at the lake with friends and family. Jack was a volunteer fireman for many years and served as Chief for a time. He enjoyed years on the football chain-gang and especially SFCHS sports.
Jack's Memorial and Celebration of Life will be held on his 90th Birthday, Thursday, March 16th. The service will be held at the St. Francis United Methodist Church at 1:00 PM CT, interment will follow at the St. Francis Cemetery.
