Gerald "Jerry" Bier was 84 years old and passed away on February 17, 2025 at Swedish Medical Center in Englewood, CO. He was born on July 26, 1940 in St. Francis, KS to Fred G. and Emma (Krien) Bier. Jerry attended St. Francis schools and graduated from St. Francis High School in 1959. He was united in marriage to Mary Hood on December 20, 1964 at the United Methodist Church in Last Chance, CO. To this union was born their daughter, Shelly.

After their marriage, Jerry and Mary lived in Ft. Collins, CO for five years. Jerry was a John Deere mechanic at McClure's Implement until they moved to St. Francis in 1969 to help Jerry's father whose health was failing. Jerry worked at the St. Francis Equity and then for Lampe Implement until he and Mary opened up the Sears catalog store in June of 1972. Also, later in 1972, Jerry's father passed away at which time he took over his father's farming. Jerry and Mary proudly ran their business for 46 years until they retired in 2018.

Jerry enjoyed hunting, fishing, working on cars, and fixing up old tractors. He was a member of the Cheyenne County Cruisers car club for several years. He and Mary also enjoyed traveling around the area to attend farm auctions. Over the years, some of Jerry's favorite road trips with close friends were to the Indianapolis 500 and to Las Vegas, NV. He also enjoyed many trips to Wisconsin to visit his brother and family.

Jerry was preceded in death by his parents Fred G. and Emma Bier, brother Eugene Bier and nephew Duane Bier. He is survived by his wife Mary Bier of 60 years, daughter Shelly Bier (Todd, Gavin and Cole), sister-in-law Delores Bier. Niece Glenda Meade, great nephews Ryan Meade and Troy Bier (Kimberly and Mila) and great niece Cecily Meade (Aaron).

Jerry will be greatly missed by his family and friends. His memorial service will be held on Tuesday, Feb. 25, 2025 at the United Methodist Church in St. Francis, KS at 11am, with burial to follow at St. Francis cemetary. Memorials can be sent to the family.
