Foster Laverne
Grant Iv
Jul 8, 1995 — Sep 12, 2021
Overland Park
Foster LaVerne Grant IV was born on July 8, 1995 in Clarion, Iowa. In his first few years of life, he moved a few times. In 2000, he moved to Saint Francis, KS where his roots were planted. He attended preschool, grade school, and high school all in Sainty. In his early years, he was involved in Cub Scouts, Cherub Choir & Wesley Bells. He grew up loving the great outdoors & enjoyed hunting, fishing & trap shooting. He especially loved Oling Ond. He also had a love of music & could sing anything. He loved to dance & wasn't afraid to show off his moves. He also enjoyed playing his guitar. He had many nicknames: Fozzy, Fozzy Bear, Fuzzy or Frosty to name a few.
As he got older, sports became a priority, as did traveling, his friends & maybe even girls. He enjoyed working at Pizza Hut to make some gas money for his many adventures. He graduated with the Class of 2013. He was a Saint Francis Indian through & through. In fact, he still wore all his Sainty gear proudly, even in his last few days. He went on to attend Colby Community College for two years. He then transferred to Fort Hays State University, where he received his bachelor of science degree.
He applied to chiropractic school at Cleveland University in Kansas City, MO & got accepted. He studied hard, but was also trying to balance his life with his old & new buddies. He did pretty well in his studies, but sometimes the books got put on the back burner - he would go out & entertain others, but all of his colleagues knew he was going to excel in his chosen profession. He completed two of his four years of his doctoral education at CU when his life was tragically taken from him in the early morning hours on September 12, 2021. Dr. Cleveland awarded Foster his Doctorate of Chiropractic posthumously. Just call him Dr. Foster LaVerne Grant IV. As his dad, Trey, said, "Leave it to Fozzy to find a shortcut!"
His zest for life was huge, he loved everyone & loved big, especially his friends & family! He had a special bond with each of his siblings. He was their biggest fan. His love for Ace, his four-legged companion, was evident everywhere he went. He also loved our country, our freedom & our Lord.
Preceding him in death were all of his great-grandparents & his Grandpa Yale Schutt. Survivors are: his dad, Trey Grant of Temple Terrace, FL, his dad & mom, Dr. Brett & Cynthia Poling of St. Francis, his brothers Tiernan & Tyson (Italia) Poling & his sister, McKenna Poling. He was blessed with so many grandparents: Chip & Linda Grant, Diane Schutt, Bob Cramer, Randy & Coleen Prehm, Dr. Tim & Margaret Poling, Raedell Winston, Mike Bahnmaier, Jody Dukelow and Jane Triplett and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins that he loved dearly, as well as the many friends Fozzy leaves behind.
He just spoke of his blessedness at a dinner with his Grandma Schutt, Bob and Uncle Todd Prehm the Tuesday before his passing about how fortunate he was to be loved and raised in the family and community he was. For those of us left behind, we were so blessed to have known him. Honor him by loving big, laughing hard, and enjoying the little things in life.
