Erna Blume went to be with her Lord and Savior on May 7th 2023 at Cheyenne County Village in St. Francis, Kansas. She was ninety-seven years old.

Erna was the youngest of five children born to William and Marie Schirmer on April 11th 1926 in Cheyenne County.

She was married to Dean Blume on October 20th 1946. They were blessed with two children, Linda Marshall (Wayne) of Hays, Kansas; and Roger Blume (Mindy) of Goodland, Kansas.

Erna and her husband farmed for several years in Eastern Colorado, and in 1964, the family moved to Goodland, Kansas, where Dean was employed by the Co-Op.

Erna was chosen to be the Welcome Wagon Hostess for Sherman County and was later given the community service award for the many years spent welcoming newcomers to the community.

Later, she and her husband owned and operated Blume's Lawn and Garden Service for many years. They thoroughly enjoyed working at their store and with the community on many lawn and garden projects.

Erna was a member of Emmanuel Lutheran Church in Goodland and Peace Lutheran Church in St. Francis.

She loved working outdoors in her flower and vegetable gardens and taking care of the birds and her kitty cats. She also enjoyed canning, cooking, baking, sewing, embroidery, and reading a good book.

Most of all, she loved spending time with her children and grandchildren. She loved cooking large family meals for them as often as she could.

Erna was preceded in death by her parents, husband Dean, son Roger (four days after her death), and son-in-law Wayne Marshall, and all of her siblings.

She is survived by daughter Linda Marshall and daughter-in-law Mindy Blume. As well as two grandsons, Richard Marshall of Hastings, Nebraska and Jeff Marshall (Tara) and great-grandchildren Spencer Marshall, Ethan Marshall, and Ellery Marshall, all of Hays, Kansas. She is also survived by many nieces, nephews, friends, and caregivers.

A graveside service will be held in July with burial in St. Francis Cemetery.
