It is with heavy hearts and deep love that we announce the passing of Dorothy Ann Weeden, who left this world peacefully on September 17, 2025.

Born on April 22, 1938 in Wray, Colorado, Dorothy lived a life filled with strength, kindness, and unwavering devotion to those she loved. Dorothy had a large family and was very close to her siblings. Dorothy attended Saint Francis High School.

Dorothy married Gaylen Weeden, her first and forever boyfriend, on February 20, 1955. After Gaylen's parents retired to town, him and Dorothy took over the Weeden family farm, which was established in 1893. Their marriage was blessed with four sons. They built their forever home in 1973, to accommodate their growing family. This home was Dorothy's happy place,  safe haven, and family gathering place for 52 years. Over 64 years of marriage, Gaylen and Dorothy successfully raised a family, cattle, pigs and crops. They attended Peace Lutheran Church where they celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary in 2015.  This year would have been their 70th wedding anniversary.

Dorothy is reunited with her husband, Gaylen Weeden, at heaven's pearly gates, after almost 6 years apart. We would like to think they are traveling the world together, while Gaylen steals kisses from his blushing bride.

Dorothy was a major connecting piece in the family unit. She was a wonderful letter writer. She could update you on everyone in the family tree on a single 3x5 note pad paper. When you called the house, the line was often busy. Dorothy was soft spoken, but had the gift of gab. She could talk to you for hours and it would feel like minutes.

Dorothy was a farmer's wife in Kanorado, Kansas, a land that can be unforgiving and stubborn. While Dorothy's stubbornness and toughness matched that of the land around her, her strength was matched only by her warmth. A hug from her was a comfort like no other; it was healing, it was safety, it was home.

Dorothy was preceded in death by two of her grandchildren, Patrick and Casey; her parents Sarah (Renzelman) and Ora Crouse; her brothers Donald, Delbert, and Dale, her sisters Doris, Wanine (Browning), and Margie (Wieck). She leaves to mourn her death: four sons- Terry (Rachel), Dennis (Sonja), Rod (Cara), and Jeff, grandchildren Allisha (Corey Weitzel), Dustin (Laura), Gabriel (Kristina), Kyle (Katie), Karma, Chelsey, Levi (Maddy), Leilani (Cade Shanks) and Cooper, twelve great-grandchildren, her sisters Phylis Carson, Carol Garmon, and many nieces, nephews and friends.

A celebration of her life will be held on Saturday September 20, 2025 at Peace Lutheran Church of Saint Francis, KS.
