Derek Harlan Ross, devoted son, brother, husband, and dad died peacefully at home on May 17, 2021.

Derek Ross was born in Atwood, Kansas on February 22, 1987 to Doug and Marla Ross. He graduated from Saint Francis Community High School in 2005 and went on to wrestle at the University of Nebraska at Kearney. He graduated in 2010 with a bachelor's degree in Philosophy and History. Derek married his high school sweetheart and love of his life, Allyse Ross on May 23, 2009. Together, they welcomed three beautiful children, Carson, Collin, and Sloan. His family was his whole world.

At an early age, Derek professed his faith in Jesus Christ. He was confirmed at Saint Francis United Methodist Church and continued to share his love of Jesus with his children.

Derek was a die-hard wrestler, Chief's fan, and fisherman. He loved helping on his family farm and was most proud of his small herd of cattle. Derek was a dedicated, hard working man and was always willing to lend a hand at a small price of a bad dad joke. His sense of humor was a Ross legacy, passed down from many generations, and will live on through the hearts of his children. He loved hunting, though could never get his gun sighted quite right. But of his many hobbies, wrestling was his true passion and love. It started in his youth, continued through high school where he went to state three consecutive years, and was crowned the King of the backside bracket. Derek's talent placed him third at the NCAA Division II Nationals in his final year. He cherished his teammates for life; wrestling was his second family. One of his proudest moments was coaching his sons during wrestling. Although he lived and breathed wrestling, his world was filled with pink tutus and cartwheels.

Derek Ross was survived by his wife Allyse Ross, children Carson, Collin, and Sloan Ross, mother Marla Ross, sister Lauren Jantzi and family, father-in-law and mother-in-law Rod and Carla Lampe, brother-in-law Tyler Lampe and family, brother-in-law Brett Lampe and family, grandparents Kurt and Margaret Bucholtz, Alice Oelke, Jack Lampe, and many aunts, uncles, cousins, and loved ones.

He was preceded in death by his father Doug Ross, infant twin sisters Melissa and Michelle Ross, grandparents Sam and Charlsie Rogers, Harlan Ross, Vick Oelke, and Marge Lampe.
