Bettye L. Winston, 98, died March 1, 2025 at the Cheyenne County Village in St. Francis, Kansas.  Bettye was a lifelong resident of St. Francis who was a homemaker, mother, and also enjoyed many hobbies.  Harold and Bettye enjoyed dancing together and early in marriage found that to be a favored pastime.  Bettye also enjoyed antiquing, painting, gardening, golfing and playing pinochle.  She was a talented seamstress which developed into an upholstery business.  Bettye enjoyed family gatherings and was often in the kitchen producing an excellent menu filled with her children's favorite dishes.

Bettye Lee Wiggins was born September 16, 1926 to Ory James Wiggins and Hazel Mae (Boyd) Wiggins in St. Francis, Kansas.  She had 4 brothers and 3 sisters.  Bettye was married to Harold Keith Winston on September 23, 1944.

Preceding Bettye in death were here parents Ory and Hazel, her 4 brothers; Harvey, Charlie, Hobert (Jimmy), and Billy, 2 sisters; Pauline and Doris , and her husband, Harold to whom she was married for 58 years.

Bettye is survived by her children - Steven (Vickie) Winston, Kevin (Barbara) Winston, Kimberly (Ron) Schields, Shana (George) Patten, by her sister - Joy McConnell of Tampa, FL; 13 grandchildren, Jeffrey Winston, Matthew Winston, Bronwyn Rapp, Kellie Williams, Brea DeTray, Aaron Schields, Kyle Winston, Ryan Williams, Alissa Orman, Anthony Schields, Kelsey Williams, Alexis Cooper and Sydney Pfannenstiel and 22 great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be from 1 -2 p.m. March 10th at Knodel Funeral Home in St. Francis, Kansas.  Funeral Service will be held at 2 p.m. at Knodel Funeral Home in St. Francis and burial will be at the St. Francis Cemetery following the service.
